GT1 newcomer Bertrand Baguette and Maxime Martin (Ford GT No.41) secured fourth place for Marc VDS in the Championship Race – the team’s best result of the year to date.
Despite engine problems for the sister car (No.40), which meant they started from the back row, Bas Leinders and Marc Hennerici still managed to score a point for 10th place.
It was Baguette’s very first GT1-weekend – the Belgian standing in for Fred Makowiecki. The 25-year-old started the race from the front row. He and Martin had finished third in the Qualifying Race, but gained a spot after the All-Inkl Munnich Motorsport Lamborghini No.37’s grid penalty for an engine change at Silverstone in the previous round.
Baguette was on the outside of the tight opening corners and was pushed wide and off the track. The silver Ford GT finished the first lap in seventh, but during a tremendous opening stint he gained two places, with both overtaking manoeuvres at the tight final corner.
